Chauffeur Dispatch Software vs Taxi Dispatch Software: What's the Difference?
They look similar on the surface but the workflows, pricing and customer expectations are completely different. Here's what small chauffeur operators need to know.
Same map, very different business
Taxi and chauffeur dispatch platforms both put pins on a map and send jobs to drivers. That is where the similarity ends.
Booking model
- Taxi: mostly ASAP street or app hails, one vehicle class, meter-based fares.
- Chauffeur: pre-booked reservations, multiple vehicle classes, fixed quotes, hourly hire, airport transfers with meet & greet.
Pricing engine
- Taxi platforms live on the meter and surge multipliers.
- Chauffeur platforms need distance + time + fixed zones + hourly + wait time + tolls + gratuity + corporate rate cards, all quoted upfront.
Customer expectation
- Taxi customers want the cheapest car in 3 minutes.
- Chauffeur customers want a specific driver, a specific car, a specific greeting sign — for a flight landing in 6 hours.
Dispatch logic
- Taxi: nearest-available, auto-accept.
- Chauffeur: pre-assigned driver, buffer time, no-show protection, affiliate dispatch when your fleet is full.
Reporting
- Taxi: per-shift, per-meter.
- Chauffeur: per-corporate-account, per-driver commission, statements with net terms.
Which do you need?
If 70%+ of your jobs are pre-booked, you need chauffeur software. Taxi platforms will fight you on quoting, corporate accounts and driver assignment.
